Every person should have the opportunity to build a sustainable livelihood but the cost of living crisis is hitting hard ,and that’s why this years Big Give matched fundraiser – which runs from Tuesday 28th November (midday) to Tuesday 5th December (midday) – is more important than ever.
Every donation you make during this campaign is doubled – so you’re £10 becomes £20, your £50 becomes £100, and even £250 becomes £500! Double the donation, double the impact, at no extra cost to you.
This year we’ve signed up to The Big Give to support young women in Sierra Leone affected by disability. With your support, we are working with Mobility Sierra Leone to ensure young women in Bo City can achieve a new qualification in hairdressing and tailoring and start their new journey towards a sustainable livelihood.
Women joining our project are the primary care givers and therefore the most responsible for supporting their dependents who live with a disability. Therefore giving these women the ability to earn money they can then spend directly on the needs of their dependents, and having the knowledge and experience to maintain the mobility carts is essential to increased long term development and security for their families.
With your help, they can breakthrough the barriers they face to economic independence and build a better quality of life. Keikula Sama who has recently graduated from our last project with Mobility Sierra Leone told us;
