Tony was an active volunteer for over twenty years with Tools for Self Reliance – who got stuck in with everything thrown his way- always with a smile.
A collector for the Southampton area he lived in, he also sorted the tools at the Netley Marsh site, was a fine potato peeler at the staff-trustee away weekends, and was often found pottering around the workshop helping out where he could use his skills. He was also known for taking home the mammoth task of sorting buttons!
Tony was instrumental in the planning and construction of the the buildings at the front of the Netley Marsh site in 2009 – a lasting legacy we will always be grateful for.
Playing an active role in the organisation he became Trustee in 2001, before Vice Chair at 2004 and became Chair of the Trustees at 2007.
Tony and his wife Sue moved to Surrey in 2010 but he continued his support until he stepped down as chair in 2013.
Tony will very much be missed by everyone. We pass on our heart felt condolences to his wife Sue and their family.
To remember Tony, a bench will be placed in the Netley Marsh workshop gardens. Please do get in touch here if you would like to contribute to this.
