Our project with Kabushi Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Centre (KEVTC) is empowering young entrepreneurs from female headed households, equipping them with vocational training skills to build and grow enterprises and gain financial security.
KEVTC Trainer, Rodah Kolala, shines the light on two trainees as they reach the halfway stage of our one year vocational training project in Ndola.
“Clara Mulenga, a single young mother, was born with a desire to enhance her skills and contribute to skincare and treatment for others. Clara is over-joyed with the knowledge she is gaining as delves into the world of skincare, makeup application, and nail care. KEVTC instructors are helping her gain invaluable knowledge about different skin types, enabling her to analyze various skin conditions and provide tailored skincare treatments. She has developed confidence in handling her clients and also able to address their unique needs, leaving them with a radiant and healthy glow.
“This hairdressing and cosmetology training program has equipped Clara with an arsenal of makeup application techniques, mastering the art of foundation matching to skillfully contouring and creating stunning looks for diverse occasions for her clients. In the first six months of training her creativity has begun to flourish. She has learned to accentuate natural beauty and create transformative makeup looks that will leave her clients feeling empowered and ready to take on the world.
“The Cosmetology program has instilled Clara a deep understanding of hygiene and safety protocols within the beauty industry. Clara recognized the importance of maintaining clean and sanitized tools and equipment, ensuring the well-being of both her clients and her. This commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety set Clara apart as a trusted professional in her field. Clara Mulenga is a true testament to the power of passion, dedication, and the transformative journey of education.”
Violet Mukosha, a determined and ambitious individual, embarked on her journey as a Tailoring student in January 2024, with a burning desire to acquire new skills and make a positive impact on the lives of others. As six months have passed, Violet’s story unfolds, showcasing the remarkable change that has taken place in her life and the bright future she envisions for her career by the end of 2024.
“In the beginning, Violet joined the Tailoring program filled with enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge. She yearned to transform her passion for fashion and design into a skill set that could empower her and open doors to new opportunities. Guided by her mentors, Violet immersed herself in the art of tailoring, diligently mastering the techniques, patterns, and intricacies of the craft.
“As the months rolled by, Violet’s determination and dedication began to yield tangible results. With each garment she meticulously stitched, her skills grew, her confidence soared, and her creativity and unique style has flourished. Violet’s designs started to catch the eye of her instructors and fellow students, earning her recognition for her innovative approach and attention to detail.
“Beyond the technical aspects of tailoring, Violet’s experience also exposed her to the diverse needs of different people. She engaged with clients from various walks of life, understanding their preferences, body types, and personal styles. This interaction sparked a deep sense of fulfillment within Violet, as she realized the transformative power of her craft in enhancing the confidence and self-expression of individuals.
